What this covers
Percol8 is a tester exchange for app developers. Developers list apps that need testing, testers sign up to test them, and both sides earn and spend seats. This policy covers this site, percol8.com, and the app at app.percol8.com.
What we collect
- Your name and email address, so you can sign in and we can contact you about tests.
- Which platforms you build or test on, and what stage you're at, used to match you to relevant tests.
- A referral code, and who referred you if anyone did.
- Your activity on a test: when you joined, when you were confirmed, your daily check-ins, and any written feedback you submit.
- If you're a developer: your app's name, description, store link and screenshots.
We never ask for payment details.
Cookies and analytics
This marketing site uses Google Analytics to see how people find Percol8. It is off until you accept the cookie banner: analytics storage is denied by default and only switched on if you choose Accept. Decline and no analytics cookies are set.
The app at app.percol8.com is different. It runs no analytics and sets no tracking or advertising cookies. Its only cookie is the one that keeps you signed in.
Who else sees your email address
This one matters, so it's stated plainly. When you join a test and the developer launches it, that developer receives your email address. They need it to add you to the platform's own testing programme. Google Play's closed testing, for instance, works by email address, so the test cannot happen without this.
That is the only thing they're given it for. A developer may only email you about their own product if you separately agreed to it when you joined. That checkbox is optional, unticked by default, and never a condition of taking part.
Emails we send
Service emails are the ones the product can't work without: confirming your address, resetting your password, telling you a test has opened, your install window, and check-in reminders for a test you joined. These aren't marketing and don't stop while your account is open, because they're the thing you signed up for.
Marketing emails from a developer about their app only happen where you ticked the box for that specific app. Every one carries an unsubscribe link that works on the first click, without you needing to sign in, and it takes effect immediately. Withdrawing does not remove you from the test.
Services we rely on
The app and its database run on Railway. Email is sent through Mailgentix. Uploaded screenshots are stored on Cloudflare R2. This site is hosted on Cloudflare Pages. Each of these processes data only to provide that function to us.
Your choices
- Withdraw a developer's marketing permission from the link in their email, or by asking us.
- Ask for a copy of what we hold about you, or ask us to correct it.
- Ask us to delete your account and the data attached to it.
- Change your cookie choice from the Cookie preferences button in the footer of the home page, which brings the banner back.
Email hello@percol8.com for any of these. Testers can be anywhere in the world, so we hold to one standard for everyone rather than the local minimum: permission is asked for explicitly, never assumed, and can always be taken back.
